:: Cruisin' ::

The whole family went bike riding today on the board walk, it was a beautiful San Diego day. Something about the saltwater smell that rejuvinates me. We passed many people playing volleyball in their bikinis..in December!!  Evan took a spill in a bush, left with a few scratches but was ok. A few minutes later Evan was stopping and I hit him and fell over in slow motion. Malia (who was on the back of the bike) acted like that was normal and didn't even make a peep. 3 out of 4 of us fell and all that was hurt was my pride!

Malia and I took a beautiful hike up Cowles Mountain today with some friends. It was hard, but worth it!

:: zoo day ::

We just had a family day at the zoo (thanks Nana and Papa for the membership) and it was awesome! This was the first time Malia got to explore the zoo (she went when she was a baby) so she loved everything.  She liked the bug exhibit and touched a huge bug, but got scared of the otters, go figure :)

:: Christmas Fun ::

Can't believe December is already in full force!  I know we all say it, but time flies! Evan is finishing his school year at his preschool. He was accepted into the EAK (early acceptance kindergarten) program at Fletcher Hills Elementary, a school right up the hill from us. It's state funded program for those kids who are 5 but missed the cutoff date to enter kindergarten. He will start January 17th and go through june, have a summer break then start kindergarten at the same school. We are really excited for him, he'll go 7:55 to 2:15 everyday and most likely have to give up his naps (thank God he napped this long!) It's going to be a big, new step for him and I think he's going to love it.


Malia and I will start the same mommy and me preschool Evan went to as a toddler, it's once a week.

:: Malia is a year and a half ::

Dear Malia,
You are one and a half today! I'll try to explain how much we love you, how much having a daughter means to me.  When you are not giving me a heart attach by jumping off of something you are being silly and making me laugh. You give the best hugs and tiny kisses. We cuddle every nap and every night, I know you should be in your bed more, but your cuddles won't last forever as you grow older and older. You are independent and a mommy's girl, a bully and a sweet heart, sassy yet mellow.  You are so many things and I love all of them. You are learning new words every day.  You love, love to say "Grace" at dinner time, are obsessed with brushing your teeth and could read books for days. You and your brother have a love/hate relationship. You guys love to play hide and seek, laugh and be silly together. You beat each other up, yep you get some good ones in and I keep telling him your growing bigger and stronger every day so he'd better be nice to you ;)  You are such a funny kid with a great personality and did I mention you are beautiful!  I have a great relationship with your grandma Denise and I knew I wanted a little girl to have the same kind of bond. Well I feel so blessed to share that with you. I am so proud to call you my daughter and watching you grow up is such a joy.

:: Gobble, Gobble ::

We had an amazing Thanksgiving, such a fun long weekend! We are so thankful for all of you, our family and friends. We got to spend Thanksgiving with our friends Nanda, his wife Buck and their son Ozzy.  Matt, Nanda's brother and their cousins and Uncle also spent Thanksgiving with us.  We feasted, napped, feasted more, drank and laughed.  


On Saturday we went to the beach to enjoy the nice 80 degree San Diego day.  I got to surf, layout (yep it was that warm) and Evan got to try out his new wetsuit a friend gave him.  It was a great week, we are very blessed and so thankful for all that we have :)

:: Our Monday Funday ::

The kids and I took a little hike to sweetwater resevoir today, it was such a beautiful sunny day. We found lots of snails, saw lots of ducks and birds, saw a crazy prickly bush (Evan said grandma Denise would know what it was :) and even found one of Santa's reindeer bells!! I was impressed with Malia's hiking skills, I was tired when we were done!

:: Da Beach ::

Last wednesday Ashley, the kids and I hit the beach to meet up with the surf mommy group.  While we surfed the kiddos played on the beach in one of the most beautiful November, sunny, San Diego days.
